Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Decker's family moved to Louisiana in the age of nine. Decker then won a regional talent contest with a version of "I Want to Be A Cowboy's Lover" performed by Patsy Montana. By 15 Decker lived in Georgia. She had started to write songs and made frequent trips to Nashville. To find an agreement, Decker visited record companies and music publishers. At the age of 17, she was spotted by an independent label representative Big Yellow Dog Records who began selling her tracks to labels and artists. The demos of Decker were listened to by Mercury Records president David Massey and passed on to L.A. Reid of Island/Def Jam group-affiliated label group L.A. Reid was able to sign Decker to a deal. Jessie James released her debut album in August of 2009. The album was a self-titled album. Jessie James enjoyed a modest level of success, and Wanted reached the Top 40 on the Singles Charts. Decker was a country singer who believed herself to be a traditional country performer in the past was shocked to discover that the album wasn't promoted and produced with a focus on a mainstream audience. Decker battled against the label for greater control over her music after two other singles did not succeed. Her next release, Boys in the Summer is more country-oriented. The album that Decker released by the title Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was pulled because Mercury noticed the weak performances of three of her singles on country radio charts.
